About Me

I am a fully qualified secondary English teacher and have taught in a range of local schools - both selective and non-selective.

I have also worked as an English tutor for 15 years and in that time have supported countless students with their studies. Whilst I believe education is not all about grades, many of my students do go on to achieve the top grades in examinations and all students make progress and often surpass expectations.

I hold an MA in English Literature from Warwick University and a PGCE from Middlesex University.

My teaching approach is very much determined by the needs of the students as I believe they are the best judge of what works and does not work for them. I am extremely patient and willing to take the time to find the approach that ‘clicks’ with the student. It is very important that students feel safe and supported in my lessons and not afraid of stepping out of their comfort zone in order to have a go at something new. I also believe the lessons have to be engaging for the student and I do my best to employ a variety of activities to suit learning styles. Where possible, I will also try to take into the account any particular interests that students have and consider what materials are likely to inspire them.

If I sound like a good match for your child, or you would like to learn more, I would love to chat further. Please either drop me an email at jo@brightskytutoring.co.uk or book in for a free introductory video call.
